How to Sync Google Calendar with iPhone Calendar
There are two paths: add Google as an account in the iPhone Settings (recommended, full two-way sync), or install the Google Calendar app (separate app, deeper Google features).
Step-by-step
- Open Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Google on your iPhone.
- Sign in to your Google account. Approve the requested permissions.
- Toggle Calendars on (and Contacts/Mail if you want those too).
- Open the native Calendar app — your Google events appear within seconds.
- If a secondary Google calendar (work, family) doesn't show, visit calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect from your iPhone Safari and tick it.
Improve sync refresh time
Default sync is around 15 minutes. To get near-instant updates: Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Google → Fetch New Data → Push (or Every 15 minutes). Push uses more battery but updates within seconds.
Or use the Google Calendar app
If you prefer Google's native UI (with features like Goals, suggested times, and event coloring identical to the web), install the Google Calendar app from the App Store. Events still appear in the iPhone Calendar app as long as the account is added in Settings — the two paths complement each other.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need both apps?
No. Adding the Google account in Settings is enough — the native Calendar app reads from it directly.
Will my Google reminders sync?
Reminders themselves don't fully sync. Notifications still fire from Google's apps, but the iPhone Calendar uses its own reminder defaults.
