Why 2027 is different from 2026

The Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, so every Islamic date moves about eleven days earlier in the Gregorian calendar each year. In 2026 Ramadan began on February 18; in 2027 it begins around February 8; by 2030 it will start in early January — and 2030 will contain two Ramadans (January and December).
