Season structure
Since 2024–25 the Champions League uses the new "league phase" format: 36 teams play 8 different opponents (4 home, 4 away) in a single league table. The top 8 advance directly to the Round of 16; teams 9–24 enter a knockout playoff; teams 25–36 are eliminated.
Knockout rounds are two-legged ties (home and away) except for the final, which is a single match at a pre-announced venue.
