Season structure
The MLB regular season is the longest in major US sports — 162 games per team across roughly 26 weeks. Each of the 30 teams plays a mix of intra-division, inter-league, and balanced-schedule opponents.
Twelve teams reach the postseason (6 from each league). The top two seeds in each league get a bye to the Division Series. The Wild Card Series is best-of-three; everything after that is best-of-seven.
